5 Words: Week 55

Happy Friday!!! I hope you all had a great week, so I just wanted to take a moment today to ask what you though of the changes I announced on Monday. I'm really looking forward to it, I feel so much more energized now because I get to do more, and write different things, it's no longer the exact same thing every week.
So let me know about that below, and for now here's this week's five words.

Susquehanna-  A river in Pennsylvania.

Suserrous- Whispering, hissing.

Tintinnabulation- Tinkling.

Vestigial- In trace amounts.

Wafture- Waving.

Since this week's main posts were school related I thought I'd share a new website with you called Grammarly. I use Grammarly's plagiarism checker because I like knowing that I've quoted my sources correctly so I can do my best in school.
Grammarly contacted me in December about telling you about their website, but before I responded I took my time to do my research and I really do think that their website is a great tool for students and writers, so go check it out.

Well that's all for this week, I hope you enjoyed it, and don't forget to check back on Sunday for the first post in my new series Weekly Inspiration.

My Studying Essentials!

I decided today that I wanted to continue on with the school them. Today I'm going to give you my Studying Essentials, and why they are essential to my studying routine.

Studying Essentials

Studying Essentials by loriboyd

1. Sweaters
-When I'm studying I always make sure I have a sweater near by just in case I get cold.

2. Coffee/ Hot Chocolate Mug
  -  I don't drink coffee much, but during the winter I drink hot chocolate ALL the time. Sometimes I'll drink coffee, but only if I can get it just right.

3. Heating Pad
 - This is actually something new I've recently discovered. When I sit for a long time I get cramps in my back, and until last month I couldn't study for longer than 2 hours because my back would start hurting.
Well last month when I was on my period I bought a new heating pad and I used it, after my period was over I got cold, so  decided to get it out and use it to keep me warm, 4 hours later I realized my back wasn't hurting and I was still sitting at my desk.

4. Blanket
 - This one is kinda for the same reason as #1. But it's different because the main reason why I have blanket by is for my lower half, my feel tend to get really cold, so having a blanket nearby is a must.

5. Candles
  - I'm a candle addict, I have like 5 candles right now that I need to finish/start burning, and I already want to buy more. I'm not able to walk past candles in a store without stopping to sniff just one. I prefer candles that are vanilla scented, and anything similar to vanilla works too.
The reason this is on my list is because I truly believe the candles are soothing, they help me with my anxieties, and they just make the air so much nicer to breath in.

So there are my Studying Essentials, what do you think? What are you're studying essentials? Let me know in the comments.
                                                             Stay Creative,

10 New Semester Study Tips

It's a new year, and that means a new semester at school. This post is probably being posted in the middle of the changing semesters, because I know some schools only have 2 semesters, and others have 3 or 4. But regardless of where it falls for you, it's never too late to learn more efficient ways to get more studying done.

1. Study in a quiet, distraction-free location.
  - I usually study during the day because I'm home alone with no distractions or I study late at night when everyone is asleep. You need to find what works best for you, whether its at the library, or in the park.

2. Study anywhere but your bed!
 - I always sit at my desk to study cause let's be honest studying in bed will get you nowhere cause your gonna wanna sleep. So get outta bed, even if it means sitting in the floor.

3. Highlight and use color-coding.
   - Highlighters are my best friends. I use to highlight everything right after I made the notes, but that didn't really help when it came time to study. I find it easier to study if I wait to highlight when I review at the end of the week.

4. Take Breaks.
  -  In order to get your work done without stressing yourself out, remember to take breaks. I usually work for an hour, then take a 10-20 minute break. Then I got back to work. You need to start working on your most important assignment first, and whenever you feel yourself starting to get stressed put it down, and work on something else and go back to it later.

5.  Make Time for it.
 -  Make time every week to go over what you've learned. Spending two hours a week reviewing what you learned that week, is going to keep you from stressing come time for finals. Think of it this way, if you review for every class now, later you can spend more time studying for the test you think you might fail.

6.  Get Organized.
  - Take five minutes everyday to clean up any mess, and organize any papers that may be out of place. Do this now, and when you need them you won't be panicking thinking you lost them.

7. Talk to your Teachers or Professors.
  - Start the new semester off by talking to your teachers or professors. Talk to them about your concerns, and find out what they expect of you. Plus getting on their good side now will help later if you need an extension on a paper.

8. Turn Off Your Cell Phone!
   - Ugh, this is where I run into trouble, I always have my phone beside me, and it distracts me. So I think this semester we ALL need to put away the phones and concentrate.

9. Make a Plan.
  - Since I'm an online student I make my own schedule, so in the past and to this day I struggle with making enough time to study. That is until here recently when I started planning out what I would do everyday, since then I've got more work done, so try it, it really does work.

10. Don't Panic.
   - If you find yourself getting close to a deadline, with not nearly enough time to finish, panicking is the worst thing you could possibly do. If you start to panic, you're setting yourself up for failure, because then you're gonna work too quickly, make mistakes, and turn in shitty work!

So there are my 10 tips for studying, I hope you're able to put them to good use this semester, or even next semester.

Book Review: Brenda Jackson- Irresistable Forces

Today I will be reviewing 'Irresistible Forces' by Brenda Jackson, I got this book through Apple iBooks for free, and it is also available on on Amazon Kindle for free.
'Irresistible Forces' is the fifth installment in the Steele Series, a series of 10 books. This book is 256 pages long and is a Contemporary Romance Novel.

Since my e-book version didn't have a blurb, here is one from Amazon that I trimmed down.

"   One week of mind-blowing sex on a beautiful Caribbean island. Of all the business proposals financial tycoon Dominic Saxon has heard, Taylor Steele's is definitely the most tempting. All Taylor wants in return is for Dominic to father her baby. No strings, no commitments.... just mutually satisfying arrangement. Make that very satisfying. For a man with no intention of marrying again, it sounds ideal. Taylor wants a baby, not a relationship. And sexy, intelligent Dominic seems like a man with perfect genes. Turns out, Dominic has perfect everything. Their "procreation vacation" is a whirlwind of sensual ecstasy. but when it's over, will either of them be able to say goodbye?   "

So What did I think?  3 STARS

Dislike: Never finding out about who's the father of Cheyenne's baby.
Like: The happy ending I'm a sucker for families being brought back together.

When I first started reading this book I didn't know it was a series, so I might go back and read the others, but I don't think I will. I enjoyed the book, but there really wasn't anything special about it, it's pretty much like any other book published by Harlequin Romance.
I don't think I'll be reading the entire series, the only other book in the series that looks any good is the sixth book, and that's because it is the book that will apparently tell Cheyennes story, so I'm kinda interested in that.

Overall I liked the book, I guess i'd probably give it 3 stars, it's not that it's a bad book, it just didn't really blow my mind, or leave me wanting more. From the very beginning you knew what was going to happen, and I prefer something that keeps me guessing, I don't like knowing exactly whats gonna happen. I would probably recommend this book to someone who wanted a quick read, I read this book in about 5 hours

So that's all for today, I hope you like my little review, don't forget to check back next week for more.    Have you read this book? What did you think? Do you have any recommendations?

Recent Purchases and Gifts

Here recently I've received a few gifts and I've also purchased a few things, I wasn't going to share this because I didn't want it to seem like I was bragging, but I decided to go ahead and do it since the majority of items I purchased myself and will probably do a review on.

1. Taylor Swift Wonderstruck Perfume
    - I have been in love with this perfume since the first time I smelled it, it is my favorite perfume of all time.

2. Taylor Swift Wonderstruck Shower Gel
    - I haven't tried this yet, so I can't really say if it smells as good as the other two.

3. Taylor Swift Wonderstruck Lotion
   - I love this lotion, I've been putting it on my lower arms when I study, and it's just so nice and refreshing.

4.  Eucerin Original Healing Soothing Repair Creme
    - I've been using this for about three months, and this is the fifth tube I've bought. I'm planning on buying the big jar as soon as this bottle runs out.

5. O.P.I Nail Lacquer in Tickle My France-y
   - I was at Krogers the other day, and where I live it's the only place OPI nail polishes are sold. I hate paying a lot of money for nail polishes, but I couldn't resist this one. So this is my first OPI nail polish and I really love it, so I might have to take a drive to go buy some more at the nearest Target.

6. Carmex Everyday Healing Lip Balm
 - My lips are really chapped at the moment, so I bought a three pack of Carmex to see if it would help with that. I gave one to my mom, I have one in my handbag, and the other I've been keeping on my nightstand.

7. Cover Girl eyeenhancers in 630 Platina
   - I've been looking for a perfect Grey/Silver eyeshadow for a while now,so I got this one but I haven't tried this it yet. If you have any recommendations leave them below.

8.  L'Oreal Voluminous Million Lashes Mascara in Blackest Black
0 I recently bought this because I'd seen a lot of beauty gurus using it, and I wanted to try it. I love it, but it has a really strong smell, but I'm going to keep using it because I really do like it.

9.  Contemporary Style Signature Studio top
   - I got this from my Nana for Christmas, she got me another shirt, but it didn't fit. I got this shirt at Peebles for $19.98 in the color Sangria. I absolutely love it, it was really hard to photograph, but it has really cute zippers on the shoulders, and it's a high-low hem.

10.  Faded Glory Skinny Jeggings
     -  I got these Skinny Jeggings for $16.44 at Walmart a  few days ago. I don't really like buying clothes from Walmart, because they don't last long, but I decided to go ahead and buy these cause I really do like them. I'm not sure if you an tell by the photo, but they have a leather panel down the side.

Weight Loss Monday's: Week 50

Okay, so today is the last day of WLM's, and I'm not sure if I'm happy or sad. I'm still going to be doing a weight loss series just not every week, I don't really wanna get in to it today so just check back next Monday for the big announcement/ changes.

Diet:  My diet has been okay, not the best, but I decided Yesterday that I'm going to get back on track. I started using the MyFitnessPal app on my phone again, and it usually keeps me on track.

Exercise:  I still haven't been able to get back to exercising as much as I had been. But I did make it to the chiropractor on Thursday, and I'm going again later today, so hopefully I'll start feeling better soon. Yesterday I was able to get back on the stationary bike for 20 minutes, it hurt, but not as much as I thought it would.

So did I lose any weight?

Weight Lost This Week:  1 Pound
Total Weight Loss:          18 Pounds

Yes!!! I know it's only one pound, but to me every pound counts. Next Monday I go back to get blood work done for the first time since I lost about 10 pounds, so I'm really hoping it shows. Overall I'm feeling okay, but I think I may be anemic, I can usually tell when I'm anemic, and I'm starting to show the signs.

That's all for today, tomorrow I'm going to be posting about some of my Recent Gifts and Purchases, then on Wednesday I'll have my first book review since November, and of course on Friday I'll have my 5 Words.

Review: Sally Hansen Hard as Nails Xtreme Wear Nail Polish

Today I will be reviewing the Sally Hansen Hard as Nails Xtreme Wear Nail Polish in 590 Confetti Cake.
I bought this the first of November during a little mini haul, and I do believe it was $2.50.
I keep telling myself I'm going to stop buying glitter nail polishes, but I can't seem to resist, this is only one of the two I bought at the time. Ugh!!!

When I bought it, I was under the impression that it had a purple tint to it, well it doesn't. I applied it to  one of my bare fingernails first, and I was disappointed, but I got over it.
So after my little test, I decided to apply a black finger nail polish first. I decided to this time that I would use my Revlon Nail Polish in 731 Knockout (Here) .

After that I applied the Sally Hansen nail polish and here's the result....

What Do I Think?

This nail polish  stayed on longer than I expected, I had it on for about 10 days, which I'm sure your can tell because my nails grew out quite a bit during that time.
If you're looking for a glittery nail polish, then I would totally recommend you try this one, I really did like it, even if it is a pain to get off.

Well that's all for today, let me know what you think in the comments. Will you be buying this? Have you tried it already?

Sweater Weather

Hello there lovelies, since the past two weeks have been kinda hectic with the new year and all, I decided to make today's post an easy read.
One of the main reason I love winter so much is because I can wear sweaters, and darker colors, without being judged for it.

Weight Loss Monday's: Week 48 & 49

Happy Monday!!! I hope you all had a great weekend, and that you're ready for this week.

Diet:   My diet has been pretty good the past few weeks, I've been watching what I eat, but I also haven't been denying myself what I want. For the past week I haven't really been able to eat much cause I've been sick, so it's kinda hard to eat.

Exercise:  I haven't done much on my stationary bike, but I have been doing some walking. I haven't really been doing much though because my back has been hurting, I'm hoping I can make it to the chiropractor this week, I haven't been in about a year and a half so I'm WAY over due for an adjustment.

So did I lose any weight?

Weight Lost This Week:  0 Pounds
Total Weight Loss:          17 Pounds

I wasn't really surprised that I hadn't lost any weight, like I said I haven't really been able to do much the past week. But that's okay, I'll get back on track as soon as I get better.

Life Update:
So my life has been going pretty good, the new year is off to a great start. I finished my English class Part 1 with an 87 and English Part 2 with an 88. I took my last test  in my Reading and Literature class last night and finished with a 94

That's all for today, tomorrow's gonna be any easy day, I'm just posting one of my Polyvore creations, and then on Wednesday I'll have a nail polish review up.

Today I want to take the time to thank those of you who have stuck by my side for the past year. Today is the day I celebrate 200 posts, and I can't believe it, I really can't believe I've made it this far.
This time last year I wasn't really taking blogging seriously. I didn't really start getting serious till mid-September, when all of a sudden I became inspired to work harder. Over the past four months I've been really happy where my blog is going, and I hope to keep growing.

Moving forward, I want to keep growing my blog. I want to keep putting out quality content, and I want to grow my number of readers, and just keep moving forward and expanding.
So I just want to say one last time THANK YOU! Thank you for your positive comments, thank you for sticking by my blog when I was lazy and put out crappy content, and thank you for just reading this post.
                                                                  Stay Creative,
                                                                                   Lori Ann
Update: In case you were wondering this used to be my 200th post, but I deleted some of my older posts so it's no longer officially my 200th post.

This Year!

I wasn't planning this post, but I found these cute pictures on Pinterest so I had to share them. I feel like they represent where I am in my life, and how I feel about the new year.

This year, is my year, I'm going to make it the best I possibly can, and I'm shooting for the stars. I will graduate this year, I will lose weight, I will find a job, AND I will be Happy!

Last year wasn't the best for me, but towards the end of the year my life turned around. I feel like a new person, and I'm starting to get passionate about the things I used to love again.
This year I want to be my year, and it will be my year. I'm going to work hard to achieve everything I've been putting off, and I'm going to have a smile on my face even when it hurts.

A bad habit I'm going to break:
    My internet addiction, it's bad.

A new skill I'm going to learn:
I would love to get a HD camera and actually learn to use it. I also need to learn time management.

A person I hope to be more like:
I wanna be more like, Taylor Swift. I wanna be more like her because of all the charity work she does, and she never blabs about it to the media. Also she gets a lot of hate, but she never responds to it, she ignores it and rises above it.
(FYI 6 boyfriends in 8 years is not a lot, I know some people who have 20 boyfriends/girlfriend in a year!)

A good deed I'm going to do:
I would love to donate to charity this year, whether it be time or money.

A place I'd like to visit:
I'm planning on going back to Nashville to visit colleges and universities, I'm really happy about it too, cause Nashville is one of my favorite places in the world.

A book I'd like to read:
Staying Strong: 365 Days a Year by Demi Lovato. I've read a few pages on the internet, and I feel like this is the perfect book for those days when you need a little inspiration and motivation.

A letter I'm going to write:
Not sure, I'll have to think about this one.

A new food I'd like to try:
Anything on my Pinterest food board.

I'm going to do better at:
    Time management.

That's all for today, let me know below what you think. Is this the year you turn your life around? Are you planning on making this your year?
                                                        Stay Creative,
                                                                          Lori Ann

P.S. I did a Google Image search for both pictures, but I couldn't find who the owner is, all that came up was a bunch of Pinterest boards, and the only links led to other bloggers saying they found it on Pinterest.

Now here's the best part... this is going to be a monthly thing. I was originally planning on making this a replacement for my WLM's, but then I realized that I already had all my Monday's filled up with other things 'm planning. So I decided that this would be what I would do on the month's that there's 5 Monday's, and  on months when there isn't a 5th Monday I'll post it on the first Sunday of the month.

Well, that's all for today, let me know what you think in the comments.

2014 New Years Resolutions!

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!! I cannot believe it's 2014 already, and even though I'm super bummed another year has flown by, I'm determined to make the most of the year.

Today I'm going to share with you my goals for the year, and tell you a little about them.

1. Blog More.
   - For the biggest part of last year I only blogged 3 times a week, but towards the end of the year I started posting 4 times a week. I want to keep up with that, and maybe even work towards blogging 5 times a week.

2. Graduate or be Close to Graduating High School.
  - Right now I'm super motivated, and I wanna get this done, that way next year I can go to college, and really start my life.

3. Find a Part-Time Job.
   - I tried last year to find a job, but no one was hiring. So this year I'm gonna search more, and just keep applying, until I finally get a job. Plus I have a friend who's dad is opening up their 3rd Subway store, so I think if I asked he would probably hire me.

4. Crack Down on My Reading List.
   - I have a whole list of books I want to get read, some for entertainment, and others for my High School and College Reading List.

5. Finish the First Draft of My Novel
  - I've never really talked about this on here before, but in November I started writing my first novel with the help of NaNoWriMo. Since NaNo ended I've been slacking off on my writing, but this is something I really wanna stick with, and I wanna finish at least the first-draft by the end of the year.

6. Lose 60 Pounds.
  - I know that sounds like a lot, but that's what I'm going for, I need to do this, and I need to do it now. Not for anyone else, I need to do it for me, and only me. I need to learn to love myself, but I know if I don't lose all this extra weight I'm carrying around, then I'll never be able to love myself the way I want to be able to.

7. Take the SAT and ACT.
   - This was on my list last year, but I didn't feel ready to take it. So I think I'm gonna sign up for the testing date in March.

8. Visit Colleges & Universities I Want to Attend
 - This year I HAVE to visit some campuses so I can decide where to apply starting in the fall.

9. Make it Out of the State of Kentucky at Least Once
  - This kinda ties into the visiting campuses because I'l have to go out of state to see most of my top picks. This one is going to be hard because my mom HATES traveling, but hopefully I'll have my drivers permit by then and can do most of the driving for her.

10. Get My Driver's Permit
    - I want this so bad, but my mom is always working and can't take me. But I WILL go this year, hopefully next week and get this done.

So there you have it, my 10 New Years Resolutions, I hope you'll stick around this year to watch me achieve them!
